The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) e-invoicing mandate represents a significant shift in how Nigerian businesses handle invoicing. Starting from the announced deadline, all registered businesses must issue electronic invoices that comply with NRS specifications.
E-invoices must follow the UBL 2.1 (Universal Business Language) format, include digital signatures using ECDSA, and contain an Invoice Reference Number (IRN) validated by the NRS gateway.
The transition to e-invoicing brings several benefits: reduced paperwork, faster payment cycles, improved audit trails, and enhanced tax compliance. However, businesses need to ensure their systems are ready.
To comply, you'll need either to use an NRS-certified invoicing solution or work with an Access Point Provider (APP) that can submit invoices on your behalf to the NRS gateway.
TaxTask is designed from the ground up to support NRS e-invoicing requirements. Our platform generates compliant e-invoices, applies digital signatures, and can submit directly to the NRS gateway once certified.
